(and no, by now I don't recall which ones.)įor S&T I'd love to see more about other aspects of equipment (in addition to what's there, not in place of). I definitely remember reading a couple of equipment reviews that were so lightweight as to be laughable. Maybe that's not accurate, but that's what stuck in my mind.

Also, it just seemed like a lot of the articles (specifically about amateur astronomy, which is why I read it) were along the lines of "here's which way to put the eyepiece in". Neither are printed on exactly museum quality paper (for obvious reasons) but the off-color stock made Astronomy look really dull and cheap by comparison. One minor (but noticeable) point that did catch my attention as an erstwhile graphic designer was the noticeably yellow-cast stock it was printed on vs. It's not that there's no quality content (for me) in Astronomy, it's just that there's not enough of what I'm looking for as a 30-year observer to justify getting it on top of S&T. I didn't bother renewing that time, either. I finally got my first issue in July, after three or four calls / phone queue waits, etc., etc.

That was in November and I sent the card off within a week or two. PDF) so if they're still around (hopefully!) I'll probably go back paper upon renewal.Ī couple of years ago I won a year's subscription to Astronomy at a star party. This year I went digital, but I'm not thrilled with the Zinio platform (vs. A decade or more later I let my Astronomy subscription lapse and just didn't bother renewing. Upon getting in observing in 1989, I subscribed to both S&T and Astronomy.
